Which monitor sizes are LYMAX light bars compatible with?
Coverage depends on the model rather than one blanket size. The LYMAX M1 and the ScreenMate M2 use a 16.5 in (42 cm) bar, which suits standard 24–27 in displays. The ScreenMate M6 uses a 19.7 in (50 cm) bar for ultrawide coverage. The R1000 Curved is built to a true 1000R curvature so the bar follows the panel instead of sitting straight across it. Bezel fit is listed per model — the LYMAX M1 fits bezels from 15 to 22 mm.
Will the light bar block any part of my screen?
No. The bar rests on the top bezel of the monitor, not on the display itself, and its asymmetric optics throw light forward and down onto the desk. The screen area is left completely unobstructed.
What is the difference between the curved models and the flat models?
The R1000 Curved is engineered to a 1000R curvature with a contoured body, so it follows aggressively curved and ultrawide panels without gaps at the edges or light leaking sideways. The flat bars — M1, M2 and M6 — use a straight body with a 45° asymmetric path (36° ultra-wide on the M6) and fit both flat screens and gently curved ones.
Does a light bar work on a curved monitor?
On a gently curved screen (1800R and above) a flat bar is usually fine. On an aggressively curved screen (1000R–1500R) a flat bar leaves gaps and spills light off the edges, which is exactly why the R1000 is built to a 1000R contour.
Lighting performance
Will the light bar create glare on my screen?
Not if the optics are asymmetric. Asymmetric optics direct the beam forward and down onto the desk instead of out into the room, so light does not reflect back off the display. Every LYMAX bar uses an asymmetric path — 45°, or 36° ultra-wide on the M6 — the same principle the category’s flagship brands are built on.
What is CRI and which LEDs do LYMAX bars use?
CRI (Color Rendering Index, also written Ra) measures how accurately a light source renders colour compared with natural daylight, where 100 is daylight. LYMAX uses Ra ≥ 95 on the LYMAX M1, Ra97 with CQS ≥ 98 on the ScreenMate M1 (model D012) and the M2, Ra ≥ 97 on the R1000, Ra ≥ 98 on the iCareLight L1 Pro, and CRI 98 on the L3 Pro — all on Bridgelux LED chips. Higher CRI matters for design, photo and colour-critical work.
Are LYMAX bars RG0 blue-light certified?
RG0 is the exempt, lowest-risk group under the IEC 62471 photobiological safety standard — a certification rather than a marketing phrase. The ScreenMate M1 (D012) carries TÜV RG0 with an IEEE low-flicker listing, the R1000 carries TÜV RG0 alongside Ra ≥ 97, and the L3 Pro is RG0-rated for blue-light control.
What is 24GHz mmWave radar sensing and why does it matter?
It is radar-based human presence detection. PIR sensors need movement to trigger, so they can switch a light off while you are sitting still reading. 24GHz millimetre-wave radar detects subtle movement such as breathing, so the light stays on while you are at the desk and turns off shortly after you leave. LYMAX uses it on the ScreenMate M6, the R1000 Curved and the iCareLight L1 Pro.
Features and controls
How do I adjust brightness and colour temperature?
It depends on the model. The LYMAX M1 and the ScreenMate M1 (D012) use on-device touch keys. The M2 uses a 2.4GHz wireless rotary controller, while the M6 and R1000 use a rechargeable wireless rotary controller. The iCareLight L1 Pro adds app control. Colour temperature is stepless on the M1/D012 family across 2900K–6000K; the L3 Pro adds a 2700K night-light mode for after dark.
What are the RGB backlight modes?
The ScreenMate M1 (D012) has four ambient modes: steady colour, colour cycling, a breathing effect, and a reactive mode. The RGB backlight sits behind the bar, so it adds ambience behind the monitor without changing the colour of the work light in front of you.
How does the motion sensor work?
On models with 24GHz radar the bar turns on when you sit down and off after you leave, and can adjust brightness to the ambient light in the room. There is nothing to touch during normal use.
